| MY BOOKS |
I started my writing career with these two books:
-
Turbo Pascal for Beginners, WKL Publishing Company, Warsaw,
1990, pages 240
This was a small book about programming in Turbo Pascal 3. The book covered basic Turbo
Pascal programming constructions, data structures and selected algorithms. I wrote it for
high school students and undergraduate students at the university.
-
ChiWriter 3, Lights and Shadows, WKL Publishing Company,
Warsaw, 1991, pp. 224,
This was the most popular in Poland book about ChiWriter. Who knows how many people used
this book?
Later I wrote a few other books, some of them are listed below. There is a special web site devoted to my recent books. |
(in Polish), Lupus Publishing House, Warsaw 1993
ChiWriter was one of best word processors for DOS. This marvelous
program was developed by my close friend Cay Horstmann. My book was a
textbook about using ChiWriter for Desktop Publishing of scientific and
technical documents. The book covered very classical DTP issues: complete document layout,
electronic typesetting, customizing ChiWriter, designing and
implementing new typefaces, writing printer drivers, and many other
things. |
(in Polish), Lupus Publishing House, Warsaw 1994,
1995, 1996.
I wrote this textbook of computer science for high school and college students. Book covered
introduction to computing: word processing and DTP, data base systems, artificial
intelligence, computer networks, computer graphics and simulation, operating systems and
programming languages. Second part of the book covered programming in Turbo Pascal including
objects and graphics programming. For about four years many high schools
in Poland used this book as a text for their computer science
courses. |

"In this book, Prof. Majewski creates a fascinating mosaic of opportunities
for teaching, learning, and discovering mathematics with the MuPAD computer
algebra system. He shows how to write intuitive programs and develops interactive environments for exploring mathematics at different levels. The
text is based on a large number of representative examples from undergraduate mathematics. The material has been extensively
classroom-tested and should appeal to both traditionalists and innovators. A
web site with examples, MuPAD graphs, exercises and solutions supports the
book." - comment by Prof Fred Szabo, Concordia University,
Canada.

This is my second book about using MuPAD in teaching undergraduate mathematics and solving undergraduate mathematics problems with MuPAD. The text gives a large number of useful examples from different areas of undergraduate mathematics. All examples from this book are published on my books web site.

For quite a while I was thinking about a MuPAD book for a complete beginners. Finally I wrote it. This book is a gentle introduction to MuPAD -- a modern computer algebra system. I introduce here MuPAD step-by-step and I show how one can use MuPAD in various areas of mathematics. Each chapter of this book should be considered as single workshop for MuPAD beginners. The whole book is a perfect resource for conducting workshops on using CAS to explore, experiment and visualize mathematical concepts.

Finally, there is also a Polish book for MuPAD users in Poland. A book like this is a vital resource for growing community of Polish users of MuPAD. This is my first Polish book after many years after finishing my college mathematics textbook. At the time of updating this page (Feb. 2007), this book is almost impossible to obtain. There are very few places where last copies of it still exist.
